Avalabetta, Karnataka

Avalabetta, Karnataka

The Avalabetta is a relatively small hill but is a very special one. It may not attract many tourists but definitely catches the attention of adventure seekers. A bit of a thrill the place offers to the one there at the hilltop is memorable and makes the visit worth it.
It is a place to witness beautiful sunrise with a good trek up the hill. The trek is mostly pleasant as the trail is quite manageable. One must pay attention to safety through out, it at times quite so thrilling that you may want to adventure beyond the safety norms.

The hill has two temples at two different altitudes, the temple is an abode of Sri Narasimha Swamy.

The most sought after place on the hill is the 'view point' location, it has a strange and terrifying rock point and that is the highlight of the entire trip. It is so very thrilling and adventurous that one can not miss to reach or crawl to the tip of the rock and experience the fear of looking down.

The place is forbidden for onlookers and is also fenced safely. However it still can be reached but note that the safety is at the paramount, absolutely no compromise on the safety. It is a must visit spot even if you are unable to reach out to the rock. The glimpse of it is still a lot of satisfaction.

Route:

Hop on to the NH44 from the Outer Ring Road, Hebbal Junction, (the Airport Road, Bangalore to Hyderabad highway). Awesome drive for almost 70 odd kilometers. After that 30 odd kms towards the Avalabetta off the highway.
The Maps app will easily be able to guide. And there are adequate boards around the route to guide you to the place.

Food:

This place offers no food whatsoever. There are no stalls or restaurants or even the petty shops to quickly fetch some biscuits or snacks. Even getting water might be a challenge sometimes. Most preferable option is either you carry food from home and eat it on the way back. Bear in mind that Temple and hill top is ruled by the Monkeys. The Monkeys wont let you have any food at the temple and they are violent at times if they are unable to grab that food in your hands.

Best Time to visit:

It's a single day affair, and the best suggested time is reach the place in the morning 9am. Since it involves a trekking for nearly 40mins one must avoid the sun.
