Jaipur-Agra-Delhi, Rajasthan

Jaipur is called Pink City and it is indeed pink in most of the areas (old Jaipur) but as the city is developing in all aspects and as its trying to adapt to the modern times there are many streets in Jaipur wearing a white outlook with many glass buildings as commercial places.

A fact that stands loud is its weather. It is a considerably hot with temperatures cruising to 40+ in summers and monsoons and winters is 30+. The rains are sparse and winters are like mild summers.

Amidst all these harsh weather conditions, Jaipur is a must visit city for its historical existence and the history continues to connect with the present. Even today there is a jaipur flag that's hoisted and there is a king who is 18 years old and lives in Jaipur city palace.

You will generally hear Mansingh as a common name here in the city. He was the king of Amer which is the actually dynasty, Jaipur was formed quite later. Amer is the region of Akar's time. Mansingh built many forts and many walls around the region to protect from the enemy attacks.

The city is also known for possessing one of the traditional textiles and colourful ornaments - fancy and fashionable. Jaipur supplies the same to Bangalore, Mumbai and other major cities of India. They are also known to be exporting them to all over the world. There is a bazaar street which is a huge place comprising of thousands of shops dealing in textiles and ornaments.

Jaigarh, Nahargarh and Amer Palace

Jaigarh, Outskirts of Jaipur

Amera palace, the largest of all the palaces in Jaipur. It boasts a very high profile monument in Jaipur. Its around 15 to 20kms away from city on to a little hilly region. On the way upward the hill one will find two more forts called Jaigarh and Nahagarh. Both are must visit, as they are a small deviations from the main road. Jaigarh also has the WORLD's LARGEST cannon on the wheels. The cannon balls used in the cannon can be seen in a museum there. Both jaigarh and nahargarh are maintained by the private organizations. So the entrance fee is much higher.

Amera Palace is in government possession and is quite a large palace. One must take guide for this palace as it has many interesting facts which you will appreciate when heard from the guide. The cost of hiring guide is quite minimal, 100/-. Please note the obligation with it, the guide will take you to some shopping places where you might have spend sometime. But the choice of buying or not remains with you. You might have to be little smart to come out without shopping from these places. The palace displays few wonderful and amazing architectural marvels. The palaces are amidst hills but one will experience very hot weather. Carry many water bottles to quench your thirst while you are spending few hours there.

Amera Palace will need at least 2 hours to tour with a guide, but it is worth it. Well the palace itself encompasses many monuments with in, like Sheesh Mahal, Kali Temple, Dance/Assembly halls etc... Of all, Sheesh mahal is the highlight. it is made up of mirror glass panes and shining bright stones. The kings and queens have resorts inside for all seasons, winter and summer. The summer seasons, they had built air conditioning techniques - you must watch to understand these marvels.

Jal Mahal is a beautiful palace in the waters - water is collected from rain amidst the hills around. It is said that the mahal is built to enjoy hot summers as half the mahal is below, inside the waters. Again, this is also closed and is only allowed to see from a garden place in front of it. This place is best when visited in the evening times as it has a nice sit out place with many vendor selling interesting foods, but eat at your own risk considering the hygiene. Agra

Agra is a well known place for every Indian as it is hosts a wonder of the world, the Taj Mahal. Agra is a large city with two main monuments, one is a Taj Mahal and another is the Red Fort of Agra. These are must visit places if you land in Agra. Taj Mahal is quite a protected area and does not allow any vechicular movements with in the 1 Km range of its premises. Only battery operated vehicles are allowed, which can be hired at the place to avoid walking 1 Km in the hot sun. The Taj Mahal can be best appreciated when visited during full moon day (once in a month) as it glitters (marbles) and shines of the moon light.

The Taj Mahal is built on the banks of Yamuna river and to my surprise it is well maintained and the waters are seen most of the time. However, it is inaccessible to the public.
