Payyambalam Beach

This is a nearest beach in the town Kannur. Just a few KMs and has a garden around. This beach is little crowded with people and relatively occupied with the street vendors selling various things. It hosts some kind of exhibitions or fair most of the year. It is worth a visit.

Baby Beach & Ettikulam Beach

A highly relaxing atmosphere in the beaches. One can rejuvenate to the fullest by sitting peacefully with calm mind. The best place for the evenings beyond 6pm. One must visit these beaches only if you have your own transportation.

Peralassery Temple

A must visit with no reason to escape. Plan well for this temple visit. It is historically and ancient. It is very popular and famous for Sri Subrahmanya Swami. In the epic Ramayana, it is said that Lord Rama and Lord Lakshmanna visited this place in their quest to rescue Sita.

The highlight of this place is the huge and deep Pond, traditionally called as Kalyani or Pushkarni. This is quite beautiful and mesmerizing to see. One must step down till the waters in the pond and have the auspicious blessings.

It is around 15+ kms and takes around 30mins. The best time to visit early in the morning as it is has its own unique atmosphere and climate for the true divinity and piousness.

Travel

The distance from Bangalore is 320+ kms. It is on the way towards Mysore and then towards Virajpet. The drive is a mixed bag experiences, Mysore road is quite treacherous, one must carefully plan to escape the Mysore Road back to back vehicular traffic. It significantly slows down the speed on the highway and makes your trip almost 7 hours. So typically, the trip should begin at 6 AM and you will reach by 2pm with all the necessary breaks. There are two options to reach Mysore, one being from Nice Road drop to Mysore Road while the other is Nice road and then drop on Kanankapura road to reach Mysore via kollegala road. The Kanakapura road is less traffic prone and is more peaceful to drive.

Stay

Ample hotels and resorts. While we stayed in Rainbow Suites it is a 3 start hotel and stay was pleasant. The advantage it offers is the location, it is walkable distance to the payyambalam beach.

Best time to visit

November to January. Other times it is quite humid and hot. Since this place surrounded by the oceans, it is better to avoid in the summers.
