Yercaud, Tamilnadu

Yercaud, Tamilnadu

Yercaud can be simply described as one of the heavenly place on the Indian soil. This is a must visit place if you want get lost in the nature woven with clouds, hills and lush greenery. It is also well known as poor mans ooty, but it is probably a saying that has faded away and has become very sought after hill stations for bangaloreans due to its proximity and the driving pleasure it offers.
Yercaud is completely a hill station with very good places to visit in the region. All are in and around the distances of 10-15kms. At one of the tourist spot place, there is an organization which runs a adventure sport, motor biking. This is indeed very good and completely safe. Yercaud is very scenic and at times gives you the opportunity to feel the clouds, in fact one can feel the thick clouds with pleasant noise the clouds make and at times there is no visibility even at 10mts.

Stay:
In personal opinion, NO other than Sterling Resorts. As it offers a picturesque stay right with clouds and hills. Sterling resorts is uniquely built cutting across the cliffs. So, no matter which room you stay in you will get a panoramic view of the region. View some of the pictures below to believe it.

Food:
You will find scarcity of restaurants compared to other similar places. However the breakfast is offered in the resort itself and it is quite filling and very assorted buffet is presented to the guests.
Well, while you are in the main town, there are two options that I have tried for lunch, one is in a diagonally opposite lane, it is a sarvana bhavan type (limited options in the menu, but good enough). The other one is a 3 star hotel with buffet costing 400/- per person. This is also a good restaurant, just like the one that you will find in Bangalore.

Best Time to Visit: Any time. But the best being just before the monsoon and after.
